Nonequilibrium dynamics of many-body quantum systems has become one of the most advanced contemporary research areas in solid-state physics, ultracold atoms, nanophysics and quantum devices. Understanding such dynamics, which in some cases leads to unusual nonequilibrium steady states, presents a challenge to experimentalists and theory alike. Equally concurrent is an open question related to the role of ergodicity breaking mechanisms in many-body quantum systems, e.g., in systems subject to strong disorder. At the same time, new and sometimes unexpected experimental discoveries provide a stimulus for theory. This workshop continues the tradition with the 9th focused workshop on nonequilibrium phenomena. The aim is to bring together experiments and theory in an informal setting that has been extremely stimulating on previous occasions. The workshop intends to bring together scientists working in the field of:
Nonequilibrium dynamics in correlated solid-state systems such as charge density wave, superconducting and magnetic systems
Nonequilibrium dynamics in “artificial” quantum systems such as ultracold atoms in optical lattices and quantum dots
Nonequilibrium dynamics and measures of ergodicity in quantum many-body systems
Finite-temperature properties of systems with strong electron or electron-phonon interactions
The conference will take place in a hybrid format. Remote participation will also be provided via the Zoom platform. Remote presentations will be broadcasted live to the audience physically attending the meeting and vice versa. In the case of significant COVID-19 situation worsening the conference will be online only.
We are pleased to announce the 18th International Conference on Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals (FLC2021), which will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 6th to 10th of September 2021. The meeting will focus on Polarity and Chirality in Soft Matter, with specific topics covering the areas of synthesis, physical properties, theory, simulations, and applications of polar and chiral mesophases, including polar nematic liquid crystals, ferroelectric and ferromagnetic soft matter, colloidal polar systems, twist-bend phases, and chiral liquid crystal phases in biology.
These highly interesting and active areas of research will be covered by invited talks, contributed talks and posters sessions, accompanied by discussions, visits to research laboratories, and social events. We aim to provide a good environment for scientific exchanges, personal contacts, and stimulating interactions and would particularly like to encourage the participation of young scientists, including students and post-docs.

We are pleased to inform you that the scientific review panel of the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings has selected young researcher Jan Ravnik to participate in the 69th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting taking place from 30 June to 05 July 2019 in Lindau, Germany. Only the 600 most qualified young scientists can be given the opportunity to enrich and share the unique atmosphere of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.
Na nemškem otoku Lindau na Bodenskem jezeru je med 30.6. in 5.7.2019 potekalo tradicionalno, že 69. srečanje Nobelovih nagrajencev.
Letošnjega dogodka se udeležuje 39 Nobelovih nagrajencev ter 580 perspektivnih mladih raziskovalcev in podoktorskih raziskovalcev s celega sveta, ki so uspešno prestali selekcijski postopek. Med njimi so tudi štirje slovenski študenti Jan Ravnik (Institut Jožef Stefan), Marko Medenjak, Gal Lemut in zamejski Slovenec Giovanni Banelli.
Srečanja, ki potekajo že vse od leta 1951, so zasnovana kot forumi za izmenjavo mnenj, izkušenj in znanja med znanstveniki različnih generacij, kultur in disciplin.

Each year at the end of March, traditional Stefan’s Days take place at the Institute, marking the birthday (24 March) of the great Slovenian scientist, Jožef Stefan. In the scope of Stefan’s Days, Center for Technology Transfer and Innovation – in cooperation with the Institute’s research departments – organizes the Open Day. Visitors can choose from a number of visit programmes and look at the laboratories at Jamova cesta and at the Reactor Center where the tours are enabled and organized by the Nuclear Training Center (ICJT).

Open Day begins at 9:00 with the first guided tours, while we take the last groups through the Institute’s laboratories at 13:00; in the meanwhile, guided tours begin at each full hour. Each visit in the course of one programme lasts one hour (60 minutes).
