We focus on investigations of guanosine derivatives. They have the remarkable property of being able to spontaneously self-assemble into various nanostructures, which are candidates for applications in nanotechnology. We study self-assembly in solutions, thin films on water surface and thin films on solid substrates.
Dynamic light scattering is used to investigate self-assembly of guanosine derivatives in solutions and the thin films are prepared by Langmuir-Blodgett techniques. Atomic force microscopy (AFM) gives information on the deposition of G-quadruplexes and the quadruplexes can be identified by their height profile.
